Things to do in Munich

It’s been ten years since I visited Munich for longer than a couple of hours. Ever since, I only stepped foot in the city in transit between Zurich and my parent’s home in Bavaria or, occasionally, for work.

But I have always longed for an extended stay in Munich. Whenever I would catch glimpses of the shores of the Isar from the car or spotted the crowds sitting in the evening sun on Hackerbrücke drinking beer from the train, I felt a little pang in my heart. I was tempted to halt my journey and explore the city before moving on to my intended destination, but somehow I never did.

As the next transit via Munich is approaching, I decided to book a hotel room for a night and arrive in Munich a day early. Since it has been so long since my last trip, I asked my Instagram community for suggestions on things to do in Munich. I quickly gathered a couple of excellent recommendations. Thanks to everyone who shared!

As some people asked to share the results, I decided, a blog post would be the right place for this. I also consolidated all suggestions on a Google map.
